FIRST DAY
Your child’s first day at Pre-school is going to be full of emotion, for both you and your child. Settling in takes place at the pace of each child - so we will discuss and agree a plan that works for your child. It is worth considering that children really do settle quickly once their parent/carer has left - and our staff will keep you updated to help calm your nerves too!
Information about the day
Keeping parents and carers informed about your child’s life in Pre-school is an important part of our work.
We use Tapestry, which is an EYFS childcare management software system to keep you up to date with your child’s progress and give you information about your child’s day.
We also have a WhatsApp announcement group, as well as a Parents/Carer only Facebook group, so that you can keep up to date.
We also organise regular parents evenings to give you a chance to sit down with your child’s key worker.
All invoices are sent via email through Xero.
kit list
Here’s your packing checklist to get your child ready for preschool;
Backpack
Pack your child’s backpack with the day’s necessities, and we will also use it to send home artwork and school notices.
Lunch and snacks (only if you select the “Provide your own food” option)
Pack plenty of food so your child doesn’t go hungry! Please note we are a nut-free environment and encourage healthy eating.
Children enjoy 2 snacks (mid-morning and mid-afternoon) as well as Breakfast, Lunch and Tea depending on your session choices.
Spill-proof water bottle
Whether it’s a sippy cup or simply something spill-proof, pick a water bottle your child can easily open on their own.
Extra set of clothes and socks
Please pack at least one extra (seasonally appropriate) outfit, including a second pair of socks.
Extra underwear
Even if your child is potty-trained, accidents are bound to happen.
Nappies
If your little one isn’t quite ready for the potty, you’ll need to send along some nappies and wipes.
Waterproofs and wellies
We aim to spend much time as possible outdoors even in the rain! Please purchase an all-in-one waterproof and wellies to stay at Pre-school so they can enjoy the garden in all weathers!
Outdoor clothes
Don’t forget woolly hats and gloves in winter and sun hats in the summer.
Indoor shoes
We encourage the children to change into indoor shoes or slippers whilst indoors.
Comfort item
Packing your child’s favourite stuffed animal or other comfort item can help your child settle in at preschool.
Sunscreen
From Easter through to the Autumn half-term, please send your child in with a named sunscreen lotion to be reapplied at lunchtime.
POLICIES
Oakley Pre-School’s policies are all under the Parents tab of the website.
